Native of Lexington, KY, Dana Lyon is passionate about leading and serving others through her testimony of lessons learned in athletics, military and life. Dana Lyon graduated from the US Air Force Academy in 2006, where she received a B.S. in Systems Engineering Management and earned her M.S. in Sports Management Administration from Liberty University.While an athlete at the Academy, Dana was a 2x NCAA Div-I National Champion in the Javelin Throw. After graduation she was a member of the Air Force World Class Athlete Program where she was the 2007 USA Track & Field National Champion and 2008 Olympic Trials Runner-up. In April of 2015, Dana was inducted into the Air Force Academy’s Athletic Hall of FameIn 2009, Dana married her best friend and AFA track teammate, David Lyon. They were stationed at Peterson AFB in 2013. On December 27th 2013, her deployment to Afghanistan was terminated when Dave’s convoy was attacked and Capt. Dave Lyon was killed in action by a suicide vehicle-born improvised explosive device (VBIED).Dana uses her platform to inspire our nation’s future leaders to persevere through life’s struggles, failures and difficulties in order to serve others, help them reach their full potential and ultimately glorify God. Her mantra… Strength is for Service .
