The Most Valuable Pursuit

What is truly worth giving everything for? Paul's letter to the Philippians challenges every assumption we hold about success, religion, and what it means to know God. Before his encounter with Jesus Christ, Paul had an impressive religious resume, yet he came to see all of it as loss compared to the surpassing worth of knowing Christ. No amount of rule-following or religious achievement can produce the righteousness God requires. That righteousness is a gift, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Paul went on to pursue four things above all else: knowing Christ intimately, depending on His resurrection power, sharing in His sufferings, and being conformed to His death. One life will soon be passed, and only what is done for Christ will last.
