Honor People Like These

Honor is the recognition of someone's contribution and value, and it is not something you demand but something you cultivate and give freely. In Philippians 2, Paul highlights two men, Timothy and Epaphroditus, who exemplified faithful, selfless service to Christ and others. Timothy was Paul's most trusted companion, and Epaphroditus risked his life traveling over a thousand miles to support Paul during his imprisonment in Rome. Paul's instruction to the church was to receive and honor men like them. The world tends to honor people for wealth, talent, or power, but God honors people for character, faithfulness, and sacrifice. Every person also bears the image of God, which means every person deserves a basic level of dignity and respect. Building a culture of honor starts with one intentional act at a time. Identify someone in your life who has served faithfully and honor them now, before another moment passes.
